In coordinate crafting, players will use additives to guide a pointer to target areas on a grid. Additives cost money and they each move the pointer in different ways. If a player doesn't like where a coordinate lands, they can choose to keep going till they run out of moves (or funds, if that happens first) or craft a base item instead. The additives already used and purchased are not refundable so it if appears there is no chance of creating the desired item by using any moves left, then it makes sense to just craft the base item and try again. Sometimes smaller steps are bigger than large ones. It will be up to the player to decide the best combination of additives to use. Trial and error.
Some schematics have variants at specific coordinates on the grid. They may even be hidden in shaded discovery zones. Landing the crafting pointer on a variant region will unlock a new and improved creation.

Unlocks at 10 talent points.
|Catalyst Adept||Your are now able to use an additional catalyst in your crafts.|
- Level 4
Unlocks at 12 talent points.
|Creative Methodology||Discoveries are 20% easier to hit.|
|Eldan Insights||The number of Eldan relics required to create gadget reagents is reduced by 1.|
|Reagent Production||The required omni-plasm for extracting reagents from herbs is reduced by 1|
- Level 5
Unlocks at 15 talent points.
|Empowered Water||Water additives are now 25% more powerful.|
|Empowered Earth||Earth additives are now 25% more powerful.|
|Empowered Fire||Fire additives are now 25% more powerful.|
|Empowered Air||Air additives are now 25% more powerful.|

Unlocks at 23 talent points.

|Tinkerer||The omni-plasm cost to craft Relic Parts is significantly lowered.|
